Introducing our five pillars of change, public commitments to support our long-term goals of sustainable operations and community outreach. We have invested into being a carbon-neutral company. We know this is the first step of many in our commitment to protecting the planet.
We’ve dedicated Green Keeper champions in our venues who keep our energy saving targets in check. From timed appliances to energy efficient kitchen equipment and intelligent lighting sensors, we’re determined to turn our copper cased wonderland green.
Our fridges and coffee machines are fixed with timers to ensure they’re working when they really need to.
Our kitchens feature gas saving grills by Synergy. The only gas chargrill company to have gained accreditation from the Carbon Trust.
All our lamps and signage use today’s most energy-efficient and rapidly-developing lighting technologies.
We have sensors in our toilets & back of house areas, meaning the light only comes on when someone’s in the spotlight.
Reduces energy consumption of our kitchen extract and supply fans.
All hot water pipes are insulated to prevent damage and unnecessary heat escaping.
The sustainability factor is at the forefront of our business decisions. Staff trained on recycling and waste separation. Materials where possible are renewable, whether napkins, packaging or straws. Fruit waste becomes dehydrated bar garnishes. Even food becomes a liquid concoction! Introducing the ORCA, machines which recycle our food waste into water.
We're introducing a dedicated ORCA waste management system where all food waste is converted to drain safe liquid. Currently in 7 of our venues.
A tap will never be left running. We’ve water restrictors and sensor taps in all venues.
Deliveroo packaging, napkins and packaging from suppliers have all been made recycle friendly and from sustainable materials.
All our printed menus are supplied by a FSC (forest stewardship council) certified company. We’re assured they come from well-managed sources, ensuring the future of the world’s forests. For every tree felled, four more are planted.
Teams trained on specific stock rotation ensuring waste is kept to a minimum and only new essential items are ordered. Plus, our Alchemists know how to separate waste and recycling.
Bar team dehydrate excess fruit as garnishes for our cocktails. Plus, they keep longer.
We use a sustainable version of the planet’s favourite condiment. Each bottle contains fruit and veg that would have otherwise been discarded.
We’ve teamed up with ecoSPIRITS and Cointreau to reduce bottle waste by having the orange liqueur, used in our cocktails including Popsicle, Pick Your Poison and Classic Margarita, delivered in an ecoTOTE where we decant our side with no packaging. With every ecoTOTE purchased, a tree is planted in our rainforest.
We’re keeping our molecular magic local where possible. Striving for UK and local suppliers to reduce transport costs. Conjuring cooking oil into bio-diesel for our delivery vehicles. Plus, setting travel targets for our Alchemists to deliver a dash of theatre right where they are.
Locally brewed beers have been sourced in our venues, supporting those businesses close to us, literally.
Where possible, we strive to use UK and local suppliers reducing transport emissions, plus keeping business close to home.
Our cooking oil is collected and turned into bio-diesel to operate delivery vehicles. Plus, the use of our ORCA waste management systems means less pick ups at the venues.
As part of our pledge, travel reduction targets are being set for our teams, ensuing that where possible, they deliver a dash of theatre right where they are.
We’re particular about who joins our inner circle. Partner brands selected based on their charity ethos. Paying our staff to take time off work to volunteer for partner charities in all our locations. We’re also seeing green. Trees planted with each bill donation and plant-based substitutes in both the bar and kitchen.
In both the bar and kitchen, we have plant-based substitutes as a sustainable alternative. Try our Korean Bites - they're delicious and 100% plant-based.
During the festive period, we like to spread a little extra Christmas cheer by helping raise money for local charities. A £1 discretionary contribution is added to each bill. During Christmas 2021, we raised a whopping £39,641.
We’re working with the not-for-profit social enterprise Carbon Free Dining. By paying a small donation on the bill, we guarantee to plant a fruit tree in the developing world. Scroll up to see a live figure of how many trees we’ve planted. We even have a dedicated Alchemist forest.
We choose partner brands based on their ESG operations. For example, Canaima gin who are responding to South American deforestation and Sapling spirits who plant a tree for every bottle. This now forms an integral part of our tender processes.
We never like to keep still. Our working plans are in place to better ourselves and our footprint. For example, focusing on a supply chain shake up of vegan alternatives and removal of soy. Plus, giving more of a responsibility to our teams through green initiatives and charitable volunteering. Onwards and upwards.
